Chinese girls like Linux

/var/log/life/markus.log

…or at least, they like the Tux. How do I know? OK, I never leave the house without my backpack. And on my backpack, there is a Tux hanging around. His/her mission: proselytizing for Linux :-).

When walking through the streets, it happened quite often, that girls were like: “Oh, how cute.” First I thought, they meant me - but they didn’t. *sigh* ’cause they were gripping the small penguin on my backpack.

Your Smile

Ungedingstes

You’re a precious pearl
In a fragile shell
With a rose coloured skin
And a roses smell

Your long golden1 hair
Reflecting the light
Your Emerald1 Eyes
Twinkle like stars in the night

Your smile shines brighter than the sun

Grave Digger, Emerald Eyes

1Well, not exactly, but I don’t care! *smile*

Wunschzettel

Das ist ein durchaus nachvollziehbarer Wunsch und die “Drohung” hat selbstverständlich auch ihren Wert. Mr. Brain, da müssen wir separat mal drüber sprechen :-)…

The Cobra Effect

Ungedingstes

In economy, politics and companies, you often take measures to solve certain problems. If these measures are not deliberated properly, they might backfire badly and make the situation even worse. In such case, the “Cobra Effect” is often cited to describe a solution, which turned out to be a bad solution. But where does the “Cobra Effect” actually come from?

When the British ruled India, they found a huge amount of snakes there - mainly cobras. The British were in fear of these animals, and hoped to decrease the population remarkably. So, they thought about a clever solution: they offered a reward (money) for everybody, who would bring them the head of a cobra. So far, so good. The problem was: the British were not the only smart men in the world. The Indians were even as cunning as them: they started breeding cobras to earn a living of it. So the solution against cobras resulted in even more of them…
